Many German companies abroad are looking for specialised skilled staff. The 'Skills Experts' programme, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, helps them to provide practical training for these staff in line with their needs.

Economic Affairs Minister Brigitte Zypries said: "German companies doing business abroad are suffering from a skills shortage. Our 'Skills Experts' programme is therefore helping to train staff abroad together with local schools in line with the successful German dual vocational training system. On the one hand, this offers good professional prospects for local young people, on the other hand, companies can secure the skills they need for the future. This programme, which takes account of the needs of companies, is a win-win situation for all parties involved."

The programme has now been launched in Macedonia. A vocational training committee will support the training in enterprises and vocational schools and secure German quality standards. The 'Skills Experts' programme will soon be launched in five other countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
