Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Bareiß and Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, met today for talks on bilateral economic and investment relations. Following this, they jointly opened the 6th session of the Qatari-German Joint Economic Commission in the presence of representatives of the Qatari government, German companies and business associations, and German ministries.

Thomas Bareiß said: “Qatar is aiming to diversity its economy. German firms can be outstanding partners for the many infrastructure projects. Qatar is also a reliable investor in Germany. We are interested in economic relations rooted in the broadest possible trade and investment.”

Last year, German exports to Qatar amounted to €1.3 billion, whilst imports to Germany stood at €318 million.
