After eight years as President of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), Dr Eric Schweitzer will take his leave, and his successor Peter Adrian will be welcomed during a ceremony today.

Economic Affairs Minister Peter Altmaier is honouring the services of Dr Schweitzer. He said: "Unwavering in his commitment, Dr Schweitzer headed the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry for many years. He has always been a strong and authentic advocate of German business, especially of small and medium-sized enterprises, which we are rightly proud of in Germany. During the coronavirus pandemic, the DIHK and its 79 chambers of industry and commerce have also helped to make the government’s assistance programmes known in the regions. My thanks and all the best, dear Eric Schweitzer!"

Looking forward to working together with Peter Adrian, the new President of the DIHK, Minister Altmaier said: "Peter Adrian is an excellent choice. He was President of the Chamber of Industry of Trier for many years and member of the board of the DIHK. I very much look forward to our future cooperation."
