State Secretary Nußbaum attends OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris chaired by the U.S.: shaping multilateralism with common values and rules

Dr Ulrich Nußbaum, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, has travelled to Paris to attend Part II of the 2021 Meeting of the OECD Council at Ministerial Level (MCM), to take place on 5-6 October 2021 under the theme of “Shared Values: Building a Green and Inclusive Future”. During the meeting, OECD member states and partner countries will be exchanging views at international level. Dr Nußbaum will also be holding bilateral talks on the margins of the MCM.

State Secretary Dr Nußbaum said: “For 60 years now, the OECD has played a key role as a community of values when it comes to shaping and strengthening multilateralism. International cooperation is crucial to tackle global challenges on the basis of common rules. During the Ministerial Council Meeting, we will be exchanging views on common, values-based approaches in the fields of taxation, the climate, trade and inclusive growth. The discussions are a valuable basis for further cooperation and the future work of the OECD.”

The OECD Ministerial Council is the topmost decision-making body of the OECD. This year’s Ministerial Council Meeting is chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Part I of the MCM took place virtually on 31 May and 1 June 2021.
