Stefan Wenzel, member of the Bundestag Parliamentary Group of Alliance 90/The Greens and former Environment Minister of Lower Saxony, was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action today. He is succeeding Oliver Krischer, who was sworn in as Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia at the end of June.

The appointment is made by the Federal President on the proposal of the Federal Chancellor, and was took place today when the certificate confirming the appointment was presented by State Secretary Anja Hajduk in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Stefan Wenzel has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 2021 (constituency: Cuxhaven-Stade II). Prior to this, the agricultural economist was a member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony from 1998 to 2021, and Lower Saxony’s Environment Minister from 2013 to 2017.
