Six companies were able to convince the advisory board of the Association of Companies for Climate Action of their merits in a challenging multi-stage selection process. Particular mention should be made of their innovative strategies to attain the climate targets
.
In addition to fast-acting innovative measures to boost energy efficiency, the jury was also impressed by the investments in renewable energy, digitalisation and the use of green hydrogen. Creative projects to motivate staff members to engage in energy and resource efficiency show that the entire company is pulling in the same direction to mitigate climate change.

These new members attended an award ceremony at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action today.

Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, said: “Through their hard work in the field of corporate climate action, the new Companies for Climate Action are making an important contribution to the attainment of the climate targets. This makes them role models for other companies to follow. The designation as Companies for Climate Action reflects their responsible use of energy and resources.”

Jörg Schmidt, CEO of Companies for Climate Action, said: “The inclusion of six more companies in our network highlights the point that more and more firms are on a journey towards climate neutrality. The companies have recognised that their commitment to climate action pays off. In fact, their commitment to the environment and the climate proves to be a genuine competitive advantage.”

Since 2009, the Economic Affairs Ministry, the Environment Ministry and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry have been giving recognition to companies as Companies for Climate Action for their ambitious climate targets and their efforts in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.

The companies are part of the association of 51 companies for climate action, and can use this quality mark in their advertising. The selection process was subject to strict criteria.
