Even comprehensive investments in climate action will not make it possible to avoid all industrial carbon dioxide emissions in the long term. The CarbonCycleMeOH feasibility study looks at ways in which carbon dioxide generated in the chemical industry can be captured and used as a raw material.

At the Bitterfeld-Wolfen chemical park, partners from science and business want to find out how exhaust fumes and green hydrogen can be used to make methanol and methanol derivatives. Apart from technical feasibility, the study also covers the issue of production capacity and looks at the economic consequences. The project is receiving some €900,00 in funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
