Under its ‘trailblazer’ project, Air Liquide Germany is building a 20-megawatts electrolyser for the production of green hydrogen in Oberhausen. The work on the installation is to be completed by 2023. The electrolyser will be connected up to Air Liquide’s existing pipeline and supply key-enabling industries such as steel and chemicals with renewable hydrogen. Furthermore, the project, which will be one of the largest in Europe upon its completion, marks the beginning of a partnership between Air Liquide and Siemens Energy in the field of electrolysis. Air Liquide is also planning to expand the installation’s capacity to 30 megawatts. ‘Trailblazer’ is receiving €10.9 million in funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action under the National Hydrogen Strategy.
