Carbon Contracts for Difference between the state and companies in energy-intensive industry are designed to compensate for the higher cost of climate-friendly production processes compared with conventional processes. The aim is for them to provide incentives for the early implementation of climate projects. The Federal Government is currently drawing up a corresponding pilot programme, initially with a focus on the steel and chemical industry. Later, the funding instrument is to be extended to cover more sectors.
