Minister Habeck commented as follows on today’s G20 final declaration and the Joint Transformation and Energy Partnership with Indonesia:

“The commitment by the world’s 20 largest industrial and emerging economies to greenhouse gas neutrality by the middle of the century is a strong signal for the climate talks in Sharm el Sheik. The G20 is thus paving the way out of the fossil fuel era and towards a global, just and clean energy transition. Actions will be guided not just by the need for a sufficient energy supply, but also for climate-neutral energy generation. The voluntary commitment by Indonesia to significantly tighten its climate targets, to push ahead with the coal phase-out and to convert its electricity supply more quickly to renewable energies reaffirms the seriousness of the G20 decisions.”

Quote Federal Minister Robert Habeck on the G20 Final Declaration and the Transformation and Energy Partnership with Indonesia

On the occasion of today's G20 Declaration and on the Joint Transformation and Energy Partnership with Indonesia, Federal Economic and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habeck as follows:

"G20 leaders agreed, the largest industrialised countries and emerging economies in the world commit to greenhouse gas neutrality by the middle of the century. This is a strong signal for the climate negotiations in Sharm el Sheik. The G20 is thus paving the way out of the fossil fuel era and towards a global, just and clean energy transition. Not only an adequate energy supply, but also climate-neutral energy production will thus become the guiding principles for action. Indonesia's self-commitment to significantly tighten its climate targets, to push ahead with the coal phase-out and to convert its electricity supply more quickly to renewable energies reaffirms the seriousness of the G20 decisions."
