This evening, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck, Professor for Ethics in Information Technology Judith Simon and founder and CEO of the AI company Aleph Alpha Jonas Andrulis will be discussing the question “How can we achieve good artificial intelligence? “ in the fourth Transformation Talks, which will take place in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Federal Minister Robert Habeck said: “We need artificial intelligence generated in Europe which reflects our values, our culture and the diversity of our languages and thus creates trust and acceptance. An ‘AI made in Europe’ can become a competitive advantage and facilitate and enrich our daily lives and world of work. It must be our aim not only to use AI, but also to master and successfully bring it to market. To this end, we need to create an adequate policy environment, which academia and companies need to fill with innovative strength and vigour.”

How will AI change our societies? How can AI facilitate and improve our lives? What are the next development steps? What quality standards do we set for “AI made in Europe”? How are we positioning ourselves as competitors of the United States/China? The focus of today’s discussion will be on these and further questions.

In the series of “Transformation Talks”, Federal Minister Habeck has been discussing the challenges of the socio-ecological transformation with a number of guests. The kick-off event took place at the end of August 2022 with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and the guests of the second Transformation Talks in December 2022 were historian Adam Tooze and CEO of Thyssenkrupp Martina Merz. The third Transformation Talks with EU Commissioner for Competition and Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Margrethe Vestager took place in May 2023.
