Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck is visiting Warsaw today to meet with his new Polish colleagues Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Dr Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Industry Prof. Dr Marzena Czarnecka, Minister of Economic Development and Technology Krzysztof Hetman and Minister of Infrastructure Dr Dariusz Klimczak. Minister Habeck is being accompanied by Parliamentary State Secretaries Dr. Franziska Brantner and Michael Kellner.

Federal Minister Habeck said: Poland is our neighbour and a very important economic partner, our economies are closely linked. As EU Member States, we share common values and a common responsibility for a future-proof, sustainable and competitive Europe. Today’s talks aim to lay the foundations for trusting and constructive cooperation to strengthen the ties between our two countries. For this purpose, we want to identify the fields in which we can work even more closely together.

The focus of the talks is on economic policy and energy and climate policy issues. The talks aim to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries in the heart of Europe, also in the context of discussion formats and cooperation projects, and at the same time contribute to the prosperity and competitiveness of both countries.

In addition to holding bilateral talks, Minister Habeck will also be laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, participating in a roundtable on the energy transition with business representatives and visiting the Bosch factory in Warsaw.

Germany has been Poland’s most important trading partner for many years. In 2022, Poland again ranked fifth among Germany’s most important trading partners.
