How can the eco-social transformation become a success? This question is addressed by the new series of "talks on transformation" hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. In the context of these talks, Federal Minister and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck will regularly discuss various aspects of the transformation agenda with guests from government, science, business and society.

At today‘s kick-off event, Robert Habeck will be talking with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the question "How will we manage to achieve a climate-neutral Europe?" Both mastering the climate crisis and securing energy supply in the EU require a joint European strategy.

Minister Habeck said: "Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine clearly shows us that energy and climate policy is also part of security policy. We need to free ourselves as fast as possible from the shackles of Russian imports. An ambitious energy and climate policy is the key to a secure and sustainable energy supply, not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. European solidarity is more important than ever in this crisis. This includes closer cooperation and coordination between direct neighbours as well as closer coordination in the whole of Europe. If we work together in this spirit of solidarity and press firmly ahead with our energy and climate policy, we will give a lasting boost to energy security and resilience throughout the EU."
