A spokesperson of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action comments on current reports about Nord Stream 2:

“We have been informed today by the grid operator Gascade that there has been a steep drop in pressure in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

We are currently working with the relevant authorities to ascertain the facts. We still lack clarity about the cause and the precise facts. We are also unsure whether the incident took place in German territorial waters.

Specifically, the following bodies are working together: the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the grid operator, the Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency), the federal police, the Stralsund Mining Office and the relevant ministries of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Also, as a precautionary measure, the Danish authorities have been informed.”
