Parliamentary State Secretary Dr Franziska Brantner today met with Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna in the context of the German-Ukrainian High Level Group to discuss the German Federal Government’s support for Ukraine and the plans to rebuild the country.

State Secretary Brantner said: "We are currently seeing an increase in attacks on Ukraine’s civil infrastructure. In the context of the energy partnership, the Economic Affairs Ministry is providing substantial support especially in the field of electricity grids. At the same time, however, we also need to prepare the reconstruction. Today’s talks form an important basis to this end."

The meeting took place prior to the International Expert Conference on the Recovery, Reconstruction and Modernisation of Ukraine, which will be hosted by the German G7 Presidency together with the European Commission. In addition to State Secretary Brantner and Deputy Prime Minister Stefanishyna, the meeting of the High Level Group was also attended by government representatives of both countries.
